The project consists of renovation and upgrades to two wings of the Biological Sciences complex at UBC Point Grey campus, resulting in increased functionality, improvements in energy and water efficiency and some landscape work replacing existing planting with adaptive species for improved stormwater management.  Renovation rather than demolition and building new was specifically chosen to reduce environmental impact. The project provides new state-of-the art research and teaching facilities, including laboratories, aquaria, informal research spaces, classrooms, seminar rooms and gathering spaces for the departments of Botany and Zoology.

One of the more interesting green building features includes the implementation of a new daylight harvesting technology (developed at UBC) to bring daylight deep into the core of building using prismatic mirrors, as can be seen below:
