The VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation’s historic $100 million investment marks a transformative step for
health care in British Columbia. This initiative is focused on accelerating medical innovation and equipping health care teams with cutting-edge tools, all aimed at improving patient outcomes. The investment supports advancements in surgical services, including state-of-the-art operating rooms and expanded
capacity to meet increasing patient needs. By leveraging a combination of philanthropy and government
partnerships, the foundation is creating a lasting impact on health care access and quality for the
community.
Recollective played a pivotal role in integrating sustainability into the rezoning process for the hospital
expansion. As part of a Sustainable Large Site approach, Recollective ensured that the project adhered to stringent environmental and health standards, prioritizing energy efficiency, reduced embodied carbon, resilience and health and wellbeing. The project is also targeting LEED and WELL certifications.
