While working in facilities and property management for a local developer, Tim witnessed waste and inefficiency stemming from poor building design, thus sparking his interest in green and sustainable building. Soon after this, he completed the Sustainable Building Advisor certification course, Tim also acted as project manager for a building retrofit project near Vancouver’s Downtown East Side.
Obtaining his LEED AP, Tim went to work as a LEED for Homes Green rater, and sustainability consultant with a local LEED for Homes Provider. In this role, he helped design and construction teams understand their LEED for Homes goals, as well as conducting final verification of completed projects. He also helped clients understand and meet municipal sustainability requirements.
Aside from his work in the built environment, Tim also is active in promoting sustainable transportation through teaching bicycle safety, and has taught numerous workshops on climate change to children around the lower mainland.
Tim is passionate about languages (BA in Linguistics), is a bit of a word nerd (he will share some very un-punny jokes with you), plays the guitar slightly better than poorly and likes to stay fit when the mood strikes him.
